Hello everyone, how are you doing?
Following up on the other day, today I would like to introduce a new "Sui-ki" (sake vessel) by Ryuichi Kakurezaki.
It is a sake bottle that combines a soft white glaze, reminiscent of light snow, with red carbonized clay.
The combination of red and white is, of course, striking, but the difference in texture between the glazed areas and the body of the clay is used to great effect.
The red clay section has a matte finish, which you could imagine being similar to red brick.
Combined with the coarse texture of the clay, this emphasizes the sharpness of the edges and the beauty of the delicate lines.
Conversely, the glaze has a very smooth texture with a somewhat puffy, cloud-like feel.
This allows the glaze to maintain its volume down to every single drop poured over it,
creating a dynamic expression of white glazed droplets.
The harmony between this matte, sharp-edged clay and the puffy, well-rounded white glaze
gives the three-legged sake vessel a sharp form and a vibrant, expressive landscape.
You can feel the aesthetic of Mr. Kakurezaki, who constantly researches glazes and clays, thoroughly pursuing the style he wishes to express.

A work that thoroughly pursues its vision is extremely sophisticated as a three-dimensional object.

The tactile feel of the white glaze, much like cotton candy, is exquisite.

I really love the legs of the three-legged Sui-ki series.

The reason is that the legs are designed as if they were twisted from the body, making them look like a piece of optical art that I never tire of looking at.
