I received some photos of Master Ikenishi's yellow Seto ware.

Hello everyone, how are you all doing?

We have received some lovely photos from a customer who purchased a Ki-Seto katakuchi (spouted bowl) and sake cup by Mr. Ikenishi.

The design of the katakuchi makes it look as though you could drink directly from the rim, just as one would with one of Mr. Ikenishi's Ki-Seto tea bowls.

It is a rare piece that was originally intended to be a matcha tea bowl, but was modified into a katakuchi during the production stage.

Apart from the spout, it is finished exactly like a Ki-Seto tea bowl, giving it a dignified and imposing presence.

The body has a solid, powerful form that truly carries the air of a tea bowl,

while the spout is crafted with such delicacy and elegance that it looks incredibly easy to pour from.

These elements are fused in an exquisite balance, resulting in a user-friendly and tasteful katakuchi that retains the character of a tea bowl.

It reminded me once again of Mr. Ikenishi’s masterful shaping skills and his profound knowledge of glazes and clay.

Whether used as a sake server or for whisking matcha, the ways to enjoy this piece seem endless.

This is an Ido teacup by Mr. Yoshinobu Morimoto.

The faint bluish tint of the Ido glaze beautifully highlights the color of the tea.

As this piece was created with a focus on daily use, the crazing in the glaze will likely develop character as it absorbs tea stains over time.
