There was a kiln opening for Takashi Soga's work.

Hello everyone, how are you doing?

Takashi Soga has recently emptied his kiln, and his new works have arrived.
Mr. Soga changes his firing methods and clay preparation techniques for every kiln load.
This time, he used a method to enhance the plasticity of the clay during preparation, and crafted the pieces using a more viscous type of "Kannon" clay.
He also used a firing technique that causes the iron in the clay to react, resulting in small, iron-rich eruptions on the surface—much like the surface of the sake cup shown in the image.
It has become a piece with a sophisticated, interesting, and rustic earth texture.
"Just as grilling poor-quality meat won't make it delicious, you cannot create a good work without good materials," he says.
He is fastidious about clay preparation and places great importance on the entire process of creating a piece.
Born from a firing process that lasted 18 days, these works appear simple and modest at first glance,
but they possess an unfathomable charm, much like the depth of color that grows with each viewing and a soft texture that feels like it clings to your hand.
We will be introducing new sake bottles in our 8:00 PM update today, so please look forward to it.

He also employed a firing technique to react with the iron in the clay,

resulting in small, iron-rich eruptions across the surface, similar to the sake cup pictured,

giving the pieces a rustic texture reminiscent of old Bizen ware.
