100th Anniversary Special Project: Nakamura Rokuro H-Collection 6

Hello everyone, how are you doing?

Today, for the second installment of my sake bottle series, I would like to introduce the triangular sake bottle.

Although it lacks the intense impact of kiln changes or "kase" kiln changes,

it is a piece that allows you to enjoy the true essence of Bizen ware: its rich, viscous clay quality.

This moist, earthy texture seems likely to become even more polished through continued use with sake.

The "goma" (ash glaze) also becomes smoother as you use it.

After years of use, the typically rough Bizen surface becomes as smooth as a river stone.

The melted-looking clay quality is a treat in itself.

The curve and angle of the shoulders on this Nakamura-style triangle are truly wonderful.

The aforementioned pitted base is also well-fired.

It was likely placed near the "suana" (vent) during the firing.

What did you think?

It is a sake bottle with a character that makes you want to use it every day, even without any flashiness.

While writing this, I suddenly imagined one of these being used at a sushi restaurant in Bizen.

Look forward to the next entry, the turnip-shaped sake bottle, which is another wonderful, subtly understated piece.
