Hello everyone, how are you all doing?
With the continued clear, cool days, I truly feel that autumn has arrived.
Please enjoy some delicious sake in Bizen ware while savoring the flavors of autumn.
Now, today I would like to introduce some new pieces I received from Mr. Kōriki's kiln opening.
Kōriki Bizen is popular for its style that combines intensity and softness, but
what I am introducing today is by no means flashy or eye-catching.
However, the balance of the clay, firing, and form is excellent; it is a sake bottle that embodies the idea of "soaking into the heart."
The form is neither too loose nor too rigid, and the firing is not overdone, allowing the clay to speak for itself.
Rather than a harsh aesthetic that challenges the limits,
he has surrendered to the serendipity of the kiln, landing at an exquisite point where the clay, firing, and form converge.
In a sense, one could say it is built on a rare kind of balance.

The ratio of the 'nuke' (the unglazed, lighter areas) on the rim and body to the 'kase-goma' (dry, crusty ash glaze) area is superb.

Even though the 'kase' has a firm, three-dimensional texture, it feels exceptionally smooth to the touch.

It is a sake bottle you will never tire of using, one to be enjoyed for a lifetime.

The balance of the shiso-purple color, orange, and the clay texture of the 'nuke' is outstanding.
