Description

This is a Bizen sake flask by Mashiro Aiga, an artist who creates works that are unwaveringly straightforward and full of substance. The rich yellow sesame glaze, reminiscent of oil paint, is generously applied up to the shoulder, offering a smooth, matte texture like frosted glass. Aiga-sensei's dense worldview is fully realized through elements such as the *sangiri* (kiln-change) with its satin-like luster and the waterfall-like *tamadare* (beaded glaze drips). Despite its profound weightiness, the form is crafted with careful attention to detail—light, easy to use, and devoid of affectation—creating a delightful and pleasant contrast.
Included with signed wooden box (shiho-san).
Rim 3.9 cm × Body diameter 9.1 cm × 9.0 cm × Height 12.9 cm, Capacity approx. 380ml

Mashiro Aiga graduated from the Okayama Prefectural Bizen Pottery Center in 1997. In 2003, he built a fully underground anagama kiln in Sabo. The following year, in 2004, he built a second semi-underground anagama kiln, where he continues to dedicate himself to his craft.
