Description
This Bizen tea bowl is by Masashiro Aiga, an artist known for creating works that are always straightforward and substantial. The "goma" (ash glaze) on the waist and the rim are positioned to complement each other beautifully. While it appears as though it were thrown nonchalantly, you can faintly discern the flow of the clay from the wheel marks, demonstrating a refined form that perfectly fulfills its function as a vessel. The earthy quality, based in purple tones derived from mountain clay, is noble and enhances the color of the tea.
Signed wooden box (shiho-san) included
Diameter 12.8cm × 12.2cm × Height 9.0cm Masashiro Aiga graduated from the Okayama Prefectural Bizen Ceramic Center in 1997. In 2003, he built a fully underground anagama kiln in Sabu.
