Description

This Ibe sake flask is the work of Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with a superior aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his handling of clay, firing techniques, and craftsmanship. The back of the piece received a heavy accumulation of ash, which created a stunning effect resembling cascading water droplets. The surface has a depth of color that cannot be described by the word "black" alone, and the contrast with the intense yellow sesame-seed glaze effect is fascinating. The imposing form, created by combining wheel-throwing and coiling techniques, is lightweight and easy to hold, showcasing the artist’s meticulous attention to detail. Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)

He completed his studies at the Bizen Pottery Center in 1996. After working independently, he held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2004. Since then, he has held annual solo exhibitions across Japan, primarily in Tokyo. He was selected for the Tanabe Museum of Art’s "Tea Ceremony Forms Exhibition" in 2005, 2006, and 2007. In 2008, he exhibited at the "Contemporary Artists' Sake Vessels Exhibition" at Nihombashi Mitsukoshi, Tokyo, and in 2009, he exhibited at the "Contemporary Artists' Tea Bowl Exhibition" at Nihombashi Mitsukoshi, Tokyo. He continues to hold solo exhibitions in various locations, including a "Yoshinobu Morimoto Special Exhibition" at Tenmaya, Okayama in 2010.
