Description

This is an Oribe sake cup created by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with a superb aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his work with clay, firing, and technique. It is a refreshing piece featuring a rich green Oribe glaze applied over the light, slightly orange-toned Shigaraki clay. The cup is shaped in the *umadara* (horse-trough) style, which is a signature of Morimoto’s; the wide interior allows for full appreciation of the contrast between the Oribe glaze and the clay. It is a magnificent Oribe piece that reflects the dedication of a true purist, possessing a high quality that stands equal to any work from Bizen or Inbe. Original signed box to follow (please allow some time for shipping).
