Description
This is the latest Bizen hidasuki sake cup by Junpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige, the leading figure of the Kaneshige family. It features a deep, tasteful hidasuki pattern fired in a climbing kiln using a saggar. The way the rich, scarlet essence seems to ooze from the clay body creates an aesthetic that is arguably the ultimate method for showcasing the character of the clay without the use of ash. Having just been completed, the clay surface still retains a sense of freshness and novelty, making one eager to use it extensively and allow the sake to season it over time.
