Description

This is a latest Bizen bowl by Junpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige, the leading figure of the Kaneshige family. Because it is a simple flat bowl, the quality of the clay and the firing stand out, creating a piece that draws you in the more you look at it. The magnificent scarlet color, derived from carefully selected clay and masterful kiln firing, stands proudly as if it were the culmination of the Kaneshige family's aesthetic. The kiln-transformed glaze has reached the level of a painting, worthy of being displayed and admired just as it is, and will overwhelm and immediately captivate anyone who sees it. Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
Diameter 29.0cm × Diameter 28.9cm × Height 6.4cm Junpei Kaneshige was born in Komaba, Tokyo, in 1972, the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige. He graduated from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Waseda University in 1994. In 2000, he completed a graduate program in sculpture at Long Island University in New York, USA, and upon returning to Japan, he studied under his father, Kosuke Kaneshige.
