Description
This Bizen sake bottle is by Kosei Kibata, who made his highly anticipated debut after nine years of dedicated apprenticeship under Jun Isezaki. Reconsidering the essence of the Isezaki school, this work pursues kiln transformation (yohen) produced by direct flame exposure. Rather than aiming for the dark, heavily kiln-altered effects often seen in climbing kiln firing, the artist focused strictly on an anagama-style aesthetic, combining a light-gray base with intense glaze drippings. Its broad-shouldered form is characteristic of the Isezaki school, making this a work that truly symbolizes Kibata's style.
