Description

This is a new Bizen sake cup by Shin Nakamura, a renowned creator of sake vessels and tableware and the eldest son of Rokuro Nakamura, a master craftsman of Bizen sake ware. This sake cup has a slightly taller and larger form than a standard one, with a unique, inward-curving silhouette. Its orange hue, reminiscent of the ripe persimmons often seen in the Bizen region in autumn, will likely mature even further than the fruit itself as it is polished by the sake. While the form has a youthful, energetic quality, the foot shows the culmination of the experience and discipline one would expect from a veteran artist. Signed wooden box (shiho-san)
Diameter 7.3cm × Diameter 7.1cm × Height 5.8cm Shin Nakamura was born as the eldest son of Rokuro Nakamura and began learning the fundamentals from his father in 1971, where he honed his skills. To study the firing techniques of Living National Treasure Toyo Kaneshige, he also spent ten years assisting and receiving guidance from Michiaki Kaneshige with his kiln firings. He became independent in 1975. He primarily creates tea ceremony ceramics and tableware, as well as flower vases, sake bottles, and sake cups. He actively holds solo exhibitions across Japan, including in Tokyo, Okayama, and Nagoya.
