Description

This Bizen sake flask is a creation by Kazuki Nakamura, an artist who inherits the lineage of the master sake vessel makers Rokuro Nakamura and Shin Nakamura to produce works of profound character. The central portion features a magnificent scarlet hue reminiscent of a sunrise, and one looks forward to seeing how its persimmon-like color matures over time. The large, gently sloping turnip-shaped form, combined with its exquisite coloring, makes it feel almost like a piece of fruit or vegetable. It evokes the mystery of pottery, in which simply firing the clay transforms it into such a breathtaking color. Signed wooden box (double-slat)
Rim 3.6cm x Body diameter 11.2 x 11.2cm x Height 10.6cm, Capacity approx. 440cc Kazuki Nakamura was born in 1980 as the eldest son of Shin Nakamura. After graduating from the Faculty of Letters at Okayama University in 2003, he studied under his grandfather and father to refine his ceramic techniques. He fired his first kiln and became independent in 2006.
