Description

This is a black faceted flower vase by Masao Akiya, an artist who studied under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and creates works brimming with unique originality within a modern aesthetic. The piece combines sculptural form reminiscent of the work of Jun and Koichiro Isezaki with innovative cuts. The yellow *goma* (ash glaze) running diagonally across the piece adds a wonderful flavor, making it feel like a fusion of the best qualities of Bizen ware and sculptural art. While large objects can take up space and require careful consideration of room decor, this piece is compact and easy to display and enjoy. Signed wooden box to follow (please allow some time for shipping)
