Description

This rice bowl features the rustic charm characteristic of earthenware, crafted using mountain clay from popular young artist Yoshiteru Koriki, a former apprentice of the master Sozan Kaneshige. Its appeal lies in its coarse texture, rich with small pebbles, and its sophisticated, understated finish. As you use it daily, the earthen quality will gain even greater depth, and the texture will gradually smooth out. Its generous size also makes it ideal for whisking and enjoying matcha. Bizen rice bowls are known for being easy to use because rice grains do not stick to them, making this an excellent choice for a gift. Paper box

About Gift Wrapping Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Influenced by his father, who loved pottery, he aspired to pursue the path of ceramics. After graduating from high school, he began his apprenticeship in 1989 under the father-son duo of Sozan and Yuho Kaneshige to master the craft. After seven years of training, he built a climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, in 1996 to establish his own studio, and successfully fired his first kiln the following year. He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held annual solo exhibitions ever since. In 1999, he was selected for the "North Country Confectionery Container Exhibition," and in 2002, he was selected for the "Tea Ceremony Modeling Exhibition" for the first time.
