Description
This is a Bizen sake cup by Takashi Baba, an artist born in Imbe who has loved Bizen ware since childhood and finds his life's joy in creating works and firing kilns. This piece is a "Shiro-Bizen" (white Bizen) work, achieved by blending Bizen clay with porcelain clay. Its unique, ivory-like surface is accented with the characteristic "goma" (ash glaze) of Bizen, resulting in a piece with a remarkably elegant aesthetic. The play of flames has imbued parts of the surface with pink and brown hues, and its generous size allows one to enjoy a leisurely drink while admiring the work, immersing oneself in the unique world that Shiro-Bizen creations possess.
