Description
This new Bizen ware plate is by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with a superb aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his work with clay, firing, and form. The piece possesses a rich, refined texture while being fired thoroughly to its core, as if it were a masterpiece of old Bizen. The vibrant scarlet "botamochi" marking creates an indescribably magnificent hue, forming a stunning contrast with the subtle yellow of the fine sesame-seed glaze. The rim is slightly upturned, a hallmark of Morimoto-sensei’s passion for researching tea ceramics, making this an authentic piece suitable for tea ceremonies. (Please note that there is some sticking from the firing process.)
