Description

This is the latest Bizen sake cup from a kiln opening by Masao Akitani, who studied under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and creates works brimming with unique originality amidst a fresh spirit. Embraced by intense flames, the Bizen clay, specially improved for wood-firing, has transformed into a brilliant ocher color. The abundant yellow sesame glaze varies in color from place to place, never failing to captivate the viewer. By carving linear patterns into the clay block and then expanding it outward, the patterns spread with beautiful wrinkles, skillfully expressing the powerful expression and vitality of the earth.
