Description

This Bizen yunomi (teacup) was created by Yukio Tomori, who began his path in ceramics in Okinawa before studying under Taisetsu Sueishi in Bizen. Seeking to capture the "most beautiful moment" in the ever-changing form on the potter's wheel, his style makes it appear as though the dynamic, spirited clay has been fired just as it was. The vibrant, active form creates a powerful flow of clay, giving the mysterious impression of being drawn into a whirlpool of earth. When filled with sake, it looks as if the liquid is being held in a classic jar; as you rotate the cup slowly, following the flow of the clay, you can truly enjoy the time spent drinking.
