Description

This is a Bizen tea cup by Yukio Tomori, who began his path in ceramics in Okinawa before studying under Master Taisetsu Sueishi in Bizen. Reflecting his desire for viewers to witness the "most beautiful moment" in the ever-changing shapes formed on the potter's wheel, his style captures the clay as if it were fired while still in dynamic motion. The work, which seems to dance joyfully, feels as though it would continue to expand if touched, bringing a sense of delight to the observer. The deeply undulating surface is very comfortable to hold, and cradling it in both palms provides a profound sense of reassurance.
