Description
This is a new black Bizen sake cup by Takashi Baba, who was born in Imbe and has loved Bizen ware since childhood, finding his life's joy in creating works and firing kilns. The hand-molded body is unified by three small, leg-like contact points at the base. The gentle flow of the hand-kneaded clay and its subtle irregularities are accentuated by a black surface that has been thoroughly fired in an oxidizing atmosphere to produce a subtle sheen. The interior features a carbonized clay texture that could be described as black silver, which, combined with the rich pooling of yellow sesame glaze, provides a magnificent backdrop for sake.
