Description
This is a new black Bizen sake cup by Takashi Baba, who was born in Imbe, has loved Bizen ware since childhood, and finds the joy of his life in creating works and firing kilns. The piece is finished with a uniquely formulated black slip and fired to the absolute limit of the kiln, resulting in a masterpiece that can truly be called a kiln-transmutation of a black work. Because it has been fired to the extreme, the black surface has achieved a depth, luster, and brilliance akin to gunmetal paint. The foot, which looks drawn in by the carving of the waist, is faintly tinged with blue due to the effect of the black kiln-transmutation, making it one of the highlights of the piece.
