Description
This is a new *yohen* (kiln-transmuted) sake cup by Takashi Baba, an artist born in Imbe who has loved Bizen ware since childhood and finds his life’s joy in creating works and firing kilns. Beyond its unique form, the piece reflects Baba-sensei's deep reverence for Bizen ware through his meticulous attention to the expression of the clay's inherent character. The sleek, thin-walled construction is complemented by vibrant crimson *yohen* coloring; it is as if the work is not only showcasing the clay’s texture but also demanding appreciation for the durability and rich color development of Bizen clay itself. The sculptural foot, carved out and finished with a stone-like texture, invites you to enjoy using the cup as it gradually develops a beautiful patina. (Please note that there is a small patch of flaked ash glaze on the rim.)
