Description
This Bizen sake cup is by Hisanaga Koide, who has made his long-awaited debut after completing a lengthy apprenticeship under Juro Harada. It is a magnificent piece featuring yellow-green sesame glaze and a rich shiso-purple hue that makes one wonder just how intense the firing must have been to achieve such colors. The "nuke" (unfired areas) are also distinctive; the golden-tinted white clay body is almost like forged steel. The shiso-purple color with golden highlights inside the cup glows even when dry, as if coated in oil, and when sake is poured in, the light and color intensify, providing a rich and vibrant scenery.
