Description
This is a Bizen sake cup by Hisanaga Koide, who made his long-awaited debut after completing a lengthy apprenticeship under Juro Harada. It is a piece rich in character, featuring a diagonal *katamigawari* (split-body) design of *goma* (sesame glaze) and *haikaburi* (ash-covered) effects. The pale orange clay body has a magnificent, crisp appearance, while the deep *shiso* (perilla) red color that has emerged along the edges is so exquisite it looks as though it might melt to the touch. Naturally, the interior also reveals a tasteful clay texture, resulting in a profound sake cup that encapsulates a variety of landscapes within its powerful firing.
Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
