Description
This is a Bizen sake cup by Tsuyoshi Kaneshige, who established his kiln in Kugui, where he continues his research and pottery making. It incorporates a kiln-change (yohen) effect in a two-tone orange and gray color scheme devised in Kugui. The clay's texture, aiming for the scarlet hue of a sunrise, evokes the sight of mountains at dawn through the patterns created by the kiln-change. The cup also highlights the artist’s original craftsmanship, such as the shallowly carved foot.
Includes signed wooden storage box (shiho-san).
Diameter 7.2cm x Diameter 7.1cm x Height 6.0cm Tsuyoshi Kaneshige was born as the second son of Intangible Cultural Property holder Michiaki Kaneshige and is the grandson of the great Living National Treasure, Toyo Kaneshige.
