Description

This is a Bizen sake cup by Hisanaga Koide, who made his long-awaited debut after completing a long apprenticeship under Juro Harada. The slightly tall, mortar-shaped form, combined with the thick walls created by the coil-building technique, gives it a very dynamic atmosphere. The "tsuke-kodai" (applied foot), formed by directly attaching a coil of clay, is also deeply tasteful, achieving an exquisite balance between gravitas and a sense of movement. Despite the boldness of its style, it is not overly heavy, offering a weight that is just slightly perceptible to the wrist. Signed wooden box (shiho-zan) with lid
Diameter 9.3cm x Diameter 9.2cm x Height 5.9cm Hisanaga Koide was born in Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture, in 1978. In 1997, he began an apprenticeship under Juro Harada. He became independent in 2011 and built his own climbing kiln in Ushimado-cho, Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture. He fired his first kiln in 2013.
