Description

This Ki-Seto sake bottle is the work of Tsuyoshi Ike-nishi, a potter who, true to the name of his kiln, Fugen-gama ("Silent Kiln"), lets his actions speak louder than words as he relentlessly challenges himself to recreate the masterpieces of the past, captivating people with his magnificent and bold works. The soft, yellow surface appears as if coated in a translucent film, with fine crackle patterns and scorched accents that highlight the beauty of the yellow glaze, adding even greater depth to the superb finish. The supreme surface quality, reminiscent of a baked confection, is so beautifully hued that one might be momentarily tricked into believing it is edible. The form, created with a focus on this beauty rather than pronounced wheel marks, rises with an exquisite, flowing grace, and its comfortable, light weight in the hand further elevates the perfection of this piece as a sake bottle.
