Description
This is a new Bizen gourd-shaped sake bottle by Jumpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige, the leading figure of the Kaneshige family. This piece is a magnificent testament to the years spent aging clay that was meticulously refined. The soft, vibrant scarlet hue—unique to the Kaneshige family and distinct from ordinary vermilion or orange—is truly wonderful. As you use it as a sake bottle, the sake will gradually seep into the clay, eventually transforming it into a lifelong companion that transcends the role of a mere utensil. The straightforward form, characteristic of Jumpei-sensei’s earnest approach to pottery, harmonizes perfectly with the Kaneshige kiln effects and the innate quality of the clay without being overshadowed by them.
