Description

This is a plain Karatsu sake cup by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an excellent aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his use of clay, firing, and technique. He transforms coarse, sandy clay into thin, supple forms, masterfully harmonizing the raw nature of the earth with a weathered, aged texture. The ash glaze, applied with just the right thickness so as not to disrupt the delicate form, features magnificent crackle patterns that evoke a sense of wabi-sabi. Mr. Morimoto’s meticulous approach to form and glaze is designed to be enjoyed over time, ensuring that the piece develops a richer character with every use, never failing to captivate.
