Description
This Bizen sake cup is by Hisanaga Koide, who made his long-awaited debut after completing a lengthy apprenticeship under Juro Harada. It features a unique tripod foot design that resembles the legs of a dogu figurine from the front, while the bottom of the foot looks like a pursed mouth. The piece appears as if it is wearing "kase-goma" (dry ash glaze) like trousers over its leg-like forms, with the deep reddish clay of the upper portion resembling a jacket. Despite its large size, it has a comfortable weight, and the double rim makes it easy to hold.
Signed wooden box (shiho-zan) with lid
