Description

This is an Ibe sake cup by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his handling of clay, firing techniques, and craftsmanship. The form is like a condensed tea bowl, seemingly imbued with Morimoto’s unwavering passion for tea ceramics. The richly fired surface looks as though it might melt at any moment, resulting in a piece full of the visual appeal characteristic of Morimoto's masterful kiln work. A *hidasuki* (fire-cord) pattern is hidden within the chocolate-colored surface, adding a deeper red tone that serves as a wonderful subtle accent to the profound firing. Signed wooden box (shiho-san) included
