Description
This is a Bizen sake cup by Go Kaneshige, who established his kiln in Kukui and continues his research and pottery making. It is a striking piece with a powerful contrast between black and red, characteristic of Go-sensei, who burns with an extraordinary passion for kiln-altered firing. While it is well-fired, the interior reveals a soft, scarlet clay texture, promising that the piece will develop a beautiful patina with use. The earnest craftsmanship typical of Go-sensei serves to perfectly accentuate the quality of the clay and the firing.
