Description

This Hidasuki chawan (tea bowl) is by Shusaku Taku, an artist who transforms daily inspirations into form, using as his yeast the Bizen ware tradition that has matured alongside the continuous activities of people throughout history. Created with the Raku tea bowl in mind, this piece conceals subtle movements, allowing one to feel the delicate undulations of the surface when held in the hand. The marble-like quality of the clay perfectly matches the style, with the marbled pattern flowing in harmony with the natural movement of the earth. The interior features a "chadamari" (tea pool) with a powerful swirl, a focal point of intense energy within an otherwise quiet composition.
