Description

This is a new 4-sun Bizen plate by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his approach to clay, firing, and craftsmanship. Focusing on the theme of "coordination" (toriawase), which has been central to his recent work, we commissioned this piece to complement the sake vessels and other items he has released previously. The versatility of its rectangular shape allows for great freedom in coordination, and with a little creativity, it will enliven any dining table or drinking occasion. The reduced hidasuki landscape—a gray base with deep scarlet fire-cord markings, an area where Mr. Morimoto pours his energy—will reveal an even more beautiful character if you soak it in water before use.
