Description

This Bizen sake bottle is the work of popular young artist Yoshiteru Koriki, a former live-in apprentice to the master Sozan Kaneshige. It is a superlative sake bottle featuring an exquisite ash-glazed finish, showcasing a breathtaking, intense appearance born from rigorous firing, often referred to as "blue kiln change." By being buried in ash and exposed to extreme heat during firing, the bottle has developed rare and ultimate features, such as a black-silver surface, jet-black soot-stained drips, and brilliant gold-tinted accents. The areas shielded by strong reduction firing have turned a beautiful blue-gray reminiscent of blue Bizen, which perfectly complements the shimmering gold-tinted outlines. Signed wooden box (shiho-san) included
Rim 3.6cm × Body diameter 10.6cm × 10.6cm × Height 11.8cm, Capacity approx. 450cc Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Influenced by his father, who was a pottery enthusiast, he set his heart on the path of ceramics. After graduating high school, he studied under the father-son duo Sozan and Yuho Kaneshige starting in 1989. After seven years of training, he built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, in 1996 to strike out on his own, and successfully produced his first firing the following year. He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held annual solo exhibitions since. In 1999, he was selected for the "Exhibition of Confectionary Vessels You'd Like to Use," and in 2002, he was selected for the "Exhibition of Tea Ceremony Forms" for the first time.
