Description

This Bizen cylindrical katakuchi (spouted bowl) is the work of Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with a superior aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his handling of clay, firing, and craftsmanship. By capturing the wabi-sabi charm of ancient Bizen pottery in a convenient and easy-to-use sake server, this piece achieves a magnificent balance between practicality and allure. When viewed from directly above, the design reveals an oval shape reminiscent of a mortar, which, combined with the earthen texture of the interior lightly tinged with scarlet (hi-iro), creates a stunning landscape. The exterior features combed patterns (kushime) accented by fine-grained, matte sesame ash glaze (goma), resulting in a profoundly refined texture. We highly recommend this piece especially to those who are hesitant to use traditional sake bottles (tokkuri). Signed wooden box (shiho-san)
