Description
This exquisite new Ibe sake bottle is the work of Masashiro Aiga, an artist who creates works that are relentlessly straightforward and full of backbone. After a process of rigorous selection, where the very word "profit" was cast aside, the single masterpiece that remained is a sake bottle of rare brilliance for these times. The vibrant sesame glaze, which could easily be called a "golden rain," combines with a beetle-like surface texture that gleams from extensive firing to create the ultimate Ibe-style piece. It is of a high standard not only in its firing but also in its craftsmanship; the body, with its delicately remaining potter's wheel marks on the shoulder, possesses a majestic fullness suited to the clear yellow hue, standing tall and imposing while draped in a kiln-transformation glaze of overwhelming presence.
