Description

This is a Bizen "tobiguchi" (kite-beak) small jar by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with a superior aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his work with clay, firing, and craftsmanship. The piece achieves a magnificent balance between practicality and allure, as the refined, wabi-sabi atmosphere of antique Bizen is perfectly captured in a convenient, easy-to-use sake server. The matte brown clay body, featuring striking red "nuke" highlights created by Morimoto's skillful kiln firing, is superb; its understated, non-glossy surface is adorned with fine-grained "goma" (ash glaze), creating an aesthetic of pure wabi-sabi. Modeled after antique tobiguchi jars, it is also a delight to display as a standalone piece. Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
