Description
This is a new Bizen tea cup by Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his skills on the rigorous path of pottery, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Susumu Kaneshige. By firing his own kilns separately from his father, Tamon has cultivated his own unique expression of the clay. He has expertly fired this clay, which has a slightly sandy texture, to achieve a magnificent "tsuchi-aji" (clay character); one is instantly captivated by its lustrous, reddish-purple sheen. Precisely because it is meant for daily use, the cup relies not on superficial techniques but purely on the beauty of the clay itself, offering a texture that shifts in appearance depending on the light, ensuring it never ceases to fascinate.
