Description

This is a Bizen hand-molded *houhin* (teapot without a handle) by the second generation Jin-do Okai, a proud master craftsman who was born as the eldest son of the first generation Jin-do Okai and left a significant mark on the path of "ceramics," primarily through his detailed artisanal works. The highlight is the striking dragon finial, which is filled with the power of a crouching dragon quietly awaiting its moment to soar. Even the sharp claws are intricately rendered on the lid, drawing the eye to admire it repeatedly from various angles. The fine finger marks evoke a rhythmic hand-molding technique, while the sophisticated, precise craftsmanship creates a serene sense of movement typical of a master. (Please note that there are some signs of use.)

Diameter including spout 11.2cm × Diameter 9.6cm × Height 7.9cm The second generation Jin-do Okai was born as the eldest son of the first generation Jin-do Okai. Seeking his own path in life, he initially traveled extensively, immersing himself not only in ceramics but also in the study of short-form literature. At the age of 20, he reaffirmed his calling within Bizen ware and decided to succeed his father's work, taking the art name "Wado." After refining his traditional spatula techniques under his father, he studied under Master Tokei Mimura, inheriting his style. He was a master of figures, birds and flowers, and decorative objects, leaving behind numerous masterpieces. He passed away in March 1982.
