Description

This is a new Bizen *hi-dasuki* (fire-cord) sake cup by Yoshiteru Koriki, a popular young artist who was an inner apprentice to the master Sozan Kaneshige. It is a magnificent piece that brilliantly inherits the aesthetic of the Kaneshige school, featuring a wonderful bean-paste-colored clay body with an evocative, fragrant quality. Combined with its moist texture, the cup allows you to experience its elegance with all five senses—through touch, sight, and scent. Despite its profound charm, it remains quiet and understated, gently delivering the rich aroma of sake to your lips. Signed box to follow (please allow some time for shipping).
Diameter 6.6cm x Diameter 6.6cm x Height 5.4cm Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Influenced by his father, who was a pottery enthusiast, he set his heart on a career in ceramics. After graduating from high school, he studied pottery techniques under the master Sozan Kaneshige and his son Yuho starting in 1989. After seven years of training, he established his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, in 1996 and successfully fired his first kiln the following year. He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held annual solo exhibitions ever since. In 1999, he was selected for the "Exhibition of Confectionery Bowls I Want to Use from the North," and in 2002, he was selected for the "Tea Ceremony Forms Exhibition" for the first time.
