Description
This is a new Bizen Hidasuki scallion-shaped sake flask by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with a superior aesthetic sense who is constantly evolving in his work with clay, firing, and form. It is a piece that succeeds in drawing out the full potential of the rare Kannon clay used to create it. The Hidasuki (fire-cord) markings are superb—neither too vivid nor too dull, but appearing as if they have gently seeped into the surface of the pottery. The texture is remarkably smooth and moist, a level of clay refinement that is truly surprising. The elegant rim links the sake, the person, and the vessel as one, heightening the relaxing time spent by infusing the sake's rich aroma with the evocative charm of the Kannon clay.
