Description

This is a new Bizen *hi-dasuki* (fire-cord) hand-molded sake cup by the popular young artist Yoshiteru Koriki, an apprentice of the master Sozan Kaneshige. Steadfastly adhering to his master's teachings, this piece clearly conveys the theme of being honest to the clay and honest to the fire. Based on the soft *hi-dasuki* inherited from his master, the piece creates a presence that envelops the viewer in the gentle atmosphere of hand-molding. A characteristic of hand-molded *hi-dasuki* is that the fine finger movements and carving marks of the artist can be felt on the exposed surface of the clay. (*Please note: There is a kiln flaw on the part shown in the seventh photo, caused by a small stone inside; please be aware of this in advance.*) Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
Diameter 7.5cm x Diameter 7.4cm x Height 4.8cm Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Influenced by his father, who loved ceramics, he aspired to pursue the path of pottery. After graduating from high school, he began studying ceramic techniques in 1989 under the father-son duo of Sozan and Yuho Kaneshige. After seven years of training, he built a climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, and went independent in 1996, successfully firing his first kiln the following year. He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held annual solo exhibitions ever since. In 1999, he was selected for the "Northern Confectionery Vessels I Want to Use" exhibition, and in 2002, he was selected for the "Tea Ceremony Forms" exhibition for the first time.
