Description
This Bizen mukozuke is by Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his craft on the rigorous path of pottery, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Susumu Kaneshige. Distinct from the sensuality of Sozan Kaneshige or the boldness of Susumu Kaneshige, this work showcases Tamon’s unique style—one that is meticulous yet swift and sharp. Using the same clay as his father, Susumu, the piece highlights the excellence of the material in both its firing and texture, yielding a soft caramel color in areas with sesame glaze (goma) and a mellow, refined gray in the fire-cord (hidasuki) sections. While suitable for everyday dining, its ideal size also makes it perfect as a serving plate for sake gatherings.
