Description

This Bizen katakuchi (spouted bowl) is by Takashi Soga, an artist who challenges himself to create ancient beauty by recreating the same environment in which Old Bizen pottery was fired. Reflecting his deep respect for Old Bizen, Soga-sensei carefully selects his clay and fires it as if letting it mature within the flames, resulting in a moist, gentle, and sophisticated texture. The eruption of iron deposits and the rich, oozing-like hidasuki (fire-cord) markings are exquisite, giving the piece a high-quality finish that could be mistaken for authentic Old Bizen. Such a powerful texture complements any dish, creating a wonderful harmony between the colors of the ingredients and the beauty of the Old Bizen aesthetic on your table. Paper box
