Description

This is a Bizen katakuchi sake server by the popular young artist Yoshiteru Koriki, a former apprentice to the master Sozan Kaneshige. The piece sits perfectly between a sake bottle (tokkuri) and a pouring bowl (katakuchi), combining the high capacity of a tokkuri with the ease of use of a katakuchi. Created by carefully firing high-quality clay, it showcases a truly refined texture that, while understated, speaks to the quality of the material. This server is recommended not only for those using Bizen ware for the first time but also for those just beginning to explore sake and shochu. Paper box
Diameter 9.1cm x Diameter 9.0cm x Height 13.8cm Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Influenced by his pottery-loving father, he aspired to a career in ceramics. After graduating from high school in 1989, he apprenticed under the master Sozan Kaneshige and his son Yuho, where he mastered the craft. After seven years of training, he built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, in 1996 to establish his independence, and successfully fired his first kiln the following year. He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held annual solo exhibitions ever since. In 1999, he was selected for the "Exhibition of Confectionery Bowls from the North that You Want to Use," and in 2002, he was selected for the "Exhibition of Tea Ceremony Forms" for the first time.
