Description
This is a blue-glazed sake cup by Tomoyuki Oiwa, who has made his highly anticipated debut after studying pottery under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. The piece features a unique, sharp-edged form over which the glaze has been vigorously poured, resulting in a fresh and dynamic style. The synergistic effect between the edges and the glaze is exceptional, with the glaze thinning over the edges to reveal black tones, while pooling in the grooves to create deep lapis lazuli hues. The undulations of the surface and the poured glaze create a sense of motion that swirls across the entire piece, drawing the viewer deeper into the work.
