Description

This Ibe mukozuke by Mashiro Aiga is a work that embodies the artist's unwavering and principled approach to his craft. Aiga-sensei's style, which aims for the profound firing effects of Old Bizen, matches perfectly with the presence required of a mukozuke. Using iron-rich clay as a slip, the piece displays an exquisite gradation from deep purple to reddish-purple tones. Each individual mukozuke showcases first-class firing, resulting in a profound and magnificent landscape that reflects Aiga-sensei's commitment to challenging the aesthetics of Momoyama-period pottery. Despite the elaborate craftsmanship and firing process, these are relatively affordable, making them wonderful works for those just beginning their collection of Bizen tableware or as a perfect gift.
